We chose a color palette of yellow, red, aqua, blue, green and purple for this sample, using several shades of each color for dark and light balance. This color scheme could be used outside the holiday season. The color scheme could be simplified by just using only white, reds (burgandy, true red, and pinks) and greens (forest green, grass green, and yellow-green) for a Christmas theme.
Scrappy colors add a taste of the holidays to your home
This portable and whimsical project is worked in blocks that are sewn together. Techniques to enjoy include short rows, 3-needle BO shaping, and mattress stitch (for sewing blocks). The pattern provides access to help videos that will teach you each of the techniques.
Worked in Valley Yarns, Valley Superwash in an joyful array of pure tones and pastels. Valley Superwash is machine washable extra fine merino; is long-wearing, but also soft. It is an economical choice for an heirloom quality blanket.
INSPIRATION
I always decorate for the holidays with candy candy canes. I love to put one in hot chocolate and I like both the peppermint and a fruity versions. My mom always buys us peppermint bark with crushed candy canes on top; yum!
