Alternate Color Designs for Compass
To experiment with colors for this blanket, see the the Supplemental Content (access code at end of book) to download a coloring page to experiment with your own color ideas. This pattern will lend itself to a lot of different colorations that can change the look of the blanket entirely.
The blue, white and yellow example has dark diamonds and light colored stars. There is a secondary diamond shape created by alternating the colors of the star’s center block.
The multicolored, black and white example is another interpretation.

Other possibilities are:
work stripes on the star points, carrying non-working yarn between uses,
use the same two colors for star centers and points throughout, and use a color-shifting yarn for diamonds.
Find your way home to the warmth and comfort of this colorful blanket.
Modular Knitting at its best
This blanket is worked modularly and has no sewing. The project is worked in small portable pieces that are assembled at the end.

INSPIRATION from Scrap Quilts
Four point stars are a popular motif for scrap quilts like the one shown below. A four-point star can also be knit in garter stitch. Scrap quilts were a popular way to use up leftover fabric scraps, and recycle garments in foregone days. You can make Compass as shown from Jaggerspun yarns or from your stash.
