The sample for the book is worked in Knit Picks Brava. These bright, pure colors make a dramatic statement in this blanket. The sample uses blue and yellow; specifically three shades of blue and two shades of yellow, and a white background.

This is one of 30 blankets in the Geometric Knit Blankets book. The book release date is March 12, 2021.

Inspiration

The idea for this blanket came from the quilt block below. I liked the squares that radiate outwards in this block, and the colors. But I removed things that would make the block hard to knit including the stripes in center of block, and small squares. I also added a secondary block so that there is something else to look at. Although I liked the quilt block’s colors, I thought this design looked better in two complimentary colors and white.

The sample and the example scheme all use two contrasting colors: 3 shades of the more subdued color and 2 shades of the brighter color. Additionally a white or ecru is used for the light background.
