I think it it best to stick to a 2-color theme for this blanket, but of course it doesn’t have to be blue and red. I think it would look good in black and any other color you like, and teal and coral, brown and gold/yellow, mauve/burgandy and tans, etc.
Worked in Shapes and seamed
The blanket consists of 7 modular units that are seamed together. The border is worked separately and sewn on. Universal Deluxe Worsted Superwash in a beautiful but yarn offered in an inspiring range of colors.
INSPIRATION
I really like medallion style quilts, and I saw the block below, which seemed knit-able. By reorienting the blocks and adding a few extra connecting motifs a medallion design emerged. Because the medallion was made of solid colored pieces, I added an undulating striped border to pull the colors together and add some visual interest. I kept the red and blue theme, but added more shades to give it a 3-D look and used light gray-blue instead of beige.
