Snowdrift Blanket Errata
This blanket pattern doesn’t have errata, but because I have received questions about it from time-to-time, I put together this FAQ:
When is Column 37 of the chart worked? Starting working the chart at Round 14. On this round and subsequent rounds, column 37 is only worked once as the last stitch of the round (before steek stitches). In other words, repeat columns 1-36 across the round until the last st and then work column 37 once. On subsequent rounds you will do the same thing — work repeats of columns 1-36 then work column 37 only on the last st of the round.
Can a smaller needle be used when working plain rounds? Yes, to better match the gauge of the stranded-color work rounds, you may work the plain rounds with a needle one size smaller.
Can the Contrast Color (C1) be cut after the last round of each snowflake motif? Yes, the Contrast color (C1) may be cut after completing the last round of each snowflake motif and the added back for the next snowflake motif.
How are steek stitches worked? To work steek stitches, use the check stitch on stitches 2-10 (the 9 Knit stitches of the steek). To do this you will alternate the Main Color (MC) and the Contrast color (C1) starting with the MC on even rounds, and starting with the C1 on odd rounds.
Can MC or C1 be cut after every round? Do not cut the MC or C1 while in the midst of working snowflake motif rounds. If these are yarns are cut, you will not be able to catch them when reinforcing the steeks and the blanket edges may then unravel.
