Carnival Blanket
This blanket, with it’s colorful circles, evokes the excitement and fun of a summer carnival.
There are two methods included in the pattern: (1) to work the pieces in blocks and sew them together, and (2), to work the pieces modularly with no sewing. The photographed sample was worked modularly.
Techniques
Pick up and Knit (pu&k), short rows (aka “wrap & turn”), provisional cast on, 3-needle bind off, and some seaming.

Sugarbush Bold, worsted (100% extra fine superwash merino, 190 yds/174 m; 3.5 oz/100 g):

Note: Sugarbush has gone out of business. Substitute the above yarn with a worsted weight in superwash wool, a wool-blend or acrylic.
Needles
US Size 7 (4.5 mm) 40”/100 cm circular needles and dpns (for Method B), or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge
17 sts and 34 rows = 4"/10 cm in garter st. Take time to check the gauge.
